DESCRIPTION
This one of the oldest houses in Puerto Varas, declared a national monument, and that represents the typical traditional German architecture of southern Chile. The project consisted of a remodeling to be able to implement, mainly, the offices of the Pumalín, and Conservación Patagónica Chile Foundations, as well as a store, and 3 departments inside.
The remodeling consisted mainly of reinforcing the supporting structure, deteriorated due to wood rot, together with improving the insulation and thermal envelope conditions of the house. He also took advantage of improving the facilities of the house in general. An attempt was made to recover the original wood of the house as much as possible, and the missing ones, such as wall and ceiling coverings, dust covers, pilasters, moldings, among others, were sent to be replicated following the same existing designs.
Grooved pine wood was used for the walls, imitating the same drawing as the existing one, the same for the ceilings in general. For all the pavements, pilasters, moldings, among others, mañío wood was used.
All the windows in the house were replaced by raulí wood windows with thermopanel, obviously respecting their original design.
